Welcome to UnOrthodox Guitar! A small home based business that offers you a unique and original handcrafted instrument that can be completely designed to your specifications.

UG is made up of husband and wife, Dave and Marla Bauer along with bestfriend Rob Suraci. Dave is the spearhead who built his first custom guitar in 1968. After years of being a hobbyist luthier he decided to offer his unique and “unorthodox” style of guitar building to others. Marla is responsible for emails, pictures, Ebay listings and the list goes on. Rob is Dave’s righthand man who is a great asset in the building process and is well versed in the technical aspect of sound and electronics.

Our guitar shapes look similar to some main stream guitars, however they are not exact copies i.e. profile shape, semi-hollow construction with or without “F” holes, arch carving and other profile carvings.

Probably our greatest attraction is the select figured woods we have available which have been acquired through a long time collection while being in the woodworking industry.
